There was a certain amount of father issues there. During the Civil War his father won the Congressional Medal of Honor at 18, at which point he was Colonel, then he went to West Point to join the regular army, fought in the campaign against Geronimo, commanded a brigade at the battle of Manila, was military governor of the Philippines, retired after clashes with Secretary of War William Howard Taft and died at age 67. Big shoes to fill but he certainly exceeded the father.

His son dealt with his father issues by changing his name and becoming a saxophone player....and that Saxaphone player's name was . . . John Coltrane
